Fish Cipro - Ciprofloxacin
Fish Cipro - Ciprofloxacin
Fish Cipro - Ciprofloxacin

Description

Synthetic broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic — a powerful second-line treatment for resistant and difficult-to-treat bacterial infections in ornamental fish.

When to choose Ciprofloxacin: Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic — a step up in potency from penicillin-class antibiotics like amoxicillin. It is particularly effective against gram-negative bacteria and is the go-to treatment when columnaris, resistant infections, or septicemia do not respond to first-line antibiotics. Also note the very concentrated dosing — far less water volume per tablet compared to most other fish antibiotics.

About This Product

Ciprofloxacin is a synthetic, broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic effective against a wide range of gram-negative and gram-positive bacterial microorganisms. It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA replication, making it highly effective against bacteria that have developed resistance to other antibiotic classes.

Each tablet contains USP-grade ciprofloxacin — available in 250mg and 500mg strengths, both in 100-tablet counts. It is one of the most potent aquarium antibiotics available without a prescription and is widely considered the gold-standard treatment for columnaris, gram-negative septicemia, and resistant bacterial infections in ornamental fish.

Also commonly searched as: cipro for fish, fish ciprofloxacin, aqua cipro equivalent, ciprofloxacin aquarium treatment, fish flox equivalent.

Commonly Treats

  • Columnaris (mouth rot / saddleback)
  • Bacterial hemorrhagic septicemia
  • Resistant fin rot & tail rot
  • Gram-negative internal infections
  • Dropsy (bacterial origin)
  • Gill disease & respiratory distress
  • Open ulcers & body sores
  • Infections unresponsive to penicillin-class antibiotics

Directions for Use

  1. Determine your dose: Use one 250mg tablet per 1 gallon of water, or one 500mg tablet per 2 gallons of water. Treat in a hospital/quarantine tank whenever possible.
  2. Dissolve the tablet in a small amount of aquarium water before adding to the tank. Stir until fully dissolved.
  3. Add directly to your aquarium, pond, or hospital/quarantine tank.
  4. Repeat every 24 hours for 5–7 days. Do not exceed 7 days of continuous treatment.
  5. Perform a 25% water change each day before re-dosing to maintain water quality and reduce antibiotic buildup.

Important Warnings & Cautions
  • For ornamental fish use only. Not intended for use in fish raised for human consumption.
  • Not for human consumption. Do not ingest. This product is sold for aquarium fish treatment only.
  • Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place away from children and pets.
  • Do not exceed 7 days of continuous treatment. Ciprofloxacin is a potent fluoroquinolone — shorter treatment windows apply compared to other aquarium antibiotics.
  • Remove activated carbon from your filter before treatment — carbon will absorb the medication and render treatment ineffective.
  • Use a hospital tank when possible. Due to the highly concentrated dosing (1 tablet per 1–2 gallons), treating in a separate tank gives you more precise control and protects your main tank's biological filter.
