Poultry & Chick Supplies

Chicks are one of the biggest draws to Pittsboro Feed. Not only are we one of the largest backyard poultry suppliers in the Triangle, but we also have one of the most knowledgeable staffs in North Carolina as well. If you have any questions about chicks whatsoever, we can help you out with anything you might need to know about our feathered friends. We can answer all these questions for you and more.

  • Which types of chickens are best for laying eggs?

  • What type of coop do I need for raising a chick?

  • How many chicks can I bring up at the same time?

Our chicks are available from February to early November usually, and we have a large variety of layer chicks, bantams, turkeys, ducks, and geese. We have the birds, supplies, and equipment for egg layers or meat birds. You can pick up the following supplies at Pittsboro Feed:

  • Feeders

  • Waterers

  • Nesting Boxes

  • Incubators

  • Heat Lamps

  • Brooder Lamps

  • Egg Cleaner

  • Brooder Deodorizer

  • Coop Deodorizer

  • Livestock Dust

  • Poultry Décor

  • Chicken Treats

  • Poultry Netting

  • Health Products

  • Poultry Books

Since the health of your poultry is important to you, it’s important to us. We can assist you with many of the health related questions you might have about your birds. This next section will cover two ailments that we see commonly.

Pasty Butt – Pasty Butt is the name for when the cloacal vent on baby chicks gets clogged. Chickens have one hole for laying eggs and doing their bathroom business. Usually, you just need to manually clean their butts and the issue will resolve itself.

Coccidiosis – Coccidiosis is a parasitic disease in chickens that can be very damaging or even deadly if left untreated. Chickens can spread this disease through their poop, so if you start to see signs of diarrhea, talk to us immediately and we can help you with a solution.

Whether you’re just getting started raising chickens, have chickens but have a few questions, or you just need to pick up chicken supplies, Pittsboro Feed has you covered.
