Grass Seed
In the Pittsboro area grass has to be one of the most challenging things to grow. Why? Because a majority of us have a very dense clay soil. Red clay to be more exact.
To be successful at growing a beautiful lawn we have to first prepare our soil. If at all possible a good topsoil would be best, but because this can be a costly way to go, we suggest fertilizing the soil prior to planting. This then gives the seed a good growing medium.
Early spring and late fall are optimal times to plant. The sun and heat aren't quite as harsh and your seed has a better chance of survival.
